PRAYER FOR PEACE
If there is righteousness in the heart,
there will be beauty in the character.
If there is beauty in the character,
there will be harmony in the home.
If there is harmony in the home,
there will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
there will be peace in the world.
So let it be. (Scottish Blessing)

CALL TO CONTINUING WORSHIP
One: Praise the LORD!
Many: Let our whole being praise the LORD!
One: I will praise the LORD with all my life;
Many: We will sing praises to our God as long as we live.
One: God: the maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them,
Many: God: who is faithful forever, who gives justice to people who are oppressed, who gives bread to people who are starving!
One: The LORD: who frees prisoners.
Many: The LORD: who makes the blind see.
One: The LORD: who straightens up those who are bent low.
Many: The LORD: who loves the righteous.
All: The LORD: who protects immigrants, who helps orphans and widows, but who makes the way of the wicked twist and turn!

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Eternal God, in every age you have raised up women and men to live and die in faith. We confess that we are indifferent to you will. You call us to proclaim your name and we whisper it at best. You call us to do what is just and we remain on the sidelines. You call us to live faithfully and too easily we live fearfully. In your mercy, forgive us. Give us courage to follow in your way, so that joined with those from ages past, who have served you in faith, hope and love, we may become citizens of your kingdom. Amen.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

INVITATION TO THE LORD’S TABLE
GREAT PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

…Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Intinction Instructions:
(All who put their trust in Jesus Christ as Lord, regardless of age or denomination, are invited to partake in the Sacrament of Communion. Today we will serve Communion by intinction. Please come forward down the center aisle. Break off a piece of the bread and dip it into the cup and eat. Or you may take an individual cup from the tray and drink. Return to your seat by the side aisle. If you are unable to come forward, please indicate this to the pastor and the sacrament will be brought to you.)

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

Loving God who has fed us on manna as we crossed barren land and in the confines of the upper room and at this table whenever we gather here, we thank you for your nurturance. Let us be strengthened to stand in that long line of saints so the chain will not be broken. Amen.
